Linkshell Rules

Introduction

Like any serious and big Linkshell, we have rules in place. We expect our members to know, understand, and follow these rules to avoid slipping into chaos.

The rules are created, revised, and enforced by the Leader and the Council members who guide the linkshell. If you are found violating any of these rules you will receive a /tell from a Council member warning you of your infraction. You will also receive a punishment in form of losing some Raid Points. Further violation will result in a greater decrease of your Raid Points. More details can be found within the rules.

Final Fantasy XI Online is an online game that presents players with an opportunity to form a unique sense of community within the game. Your actions within the game determine whether you affect the sense of community in a positive or a negative way. We expect our members to act with honor and integrity in order to affect that community in a positive way. These rules are a guide to show how we expect our member and prospective members to act within the world of Vana'diel.

The Rules

1. Chroma is expected to be your only Linkshell. Mission and Event Linkshells are excluded from this rule. Social or other Linkshells are not allowed under any circumstances.

2. Since Chroma is an european Linkshell you shoud live in Europe. However, even people from other continents can be allowed to join when their usual playtime is at the european primetime.

3. Respect the decisions of the council. We understand that not everyone will agree with everything that we do. Please understand that the decisions we make are meant for the good of the linkshell as a whole. If you disagree with a council decision please inform one or more council members. Taking it public does no one any good.

4. The forums are an important organizational tool for our Linkshell. Members are expected to register on and read the forums regularly in order to know what is going on within the Linkshell.

5. Respect your fellow players. Deliberate attacks against any player within or outside of the linkshell will not be tolerated.

6. Arguments will happen. Keep these arguments out of linkshell chat. If you wish to have a debate with another member please use /tells. If you feel that you have been wronged then please contact a Council member to help resolve the dispute.

7. Drops are distributed by a Raid Point System. This is the fairest and most transparent system for loot distribution since its based on facts and the effort members put into Chroma. However, there still is a "Main Job before Additional Job principle" so members who mainly play one Job can make best use of it.

8. The Council has the right to distribute items independent of a members Raid Points, any Job Priority or the Main before Additional Job System. This makes sure that important and rare items will be used by Jobs which can make best use of them or go to people who really deserve them. This applys for example to items like Defending Ring, Hauteclaire, Ridill or Herald's Gaiters.

9. Begging in any form will not be tolerated. Begging includes repeatedly asking for Money, Help, Teleports, Items or anything else.

10. Excessive swearing, vulgarity, or racist comments of any kind will not be tolerated. We all get frustrated and we all know a good dirty joke or two but please try to keep it under control.

11. RMT (Real Money Trade, i.e. buying or selling gil, items, or accounts in real life) will not be tolerated and is grounds for immediate pearl removal.

12. MPK (intentionally killing another player) and KS (Kill Steal, i.e. stealing a monster or HNM from another player or linkshell who has claim) is unnaceptable under any circumstances and is grounds for immediate pearl removal.

13. Third party programs that give players a significant advantage over other players are not allowed. Simple programs like screenshot programs and basic windowers are allowed. Bots, packet sniffers, and complex programs like Mr.Argus are not allowed and are grounds for immediate pearl removal.

14. If you are absent from the game for more than 30 days without notifying a Council member you will be removed from the roster. If you wish to remain in Chroma you must re-apply. If you are absent for 30 days without a good reason (No interest in FFXI is not a good reason) you will be placed on a two week trial once back in game. If you are absent for 60 days without a good reason you will be removed from the roster.

15. Attendance at events is mandatory. If you are online at the time of an event you are required to be there. Violation of this rules will result in punishment which normally consists of the removal of a specific amount of Raid Points. If you are online but afk during an event you are expected to note it in your /sea comment or simply show it by being /away.

16. Breaking the rules of Chroma may be punished by the removal of some Raid Points. In more serious cases you will also receive a warning from a Council and be put on lotting restriction. If you still keep breaking the rules you may be removed from the Linkshell.

17. When you get accepted you will be a trial member of Chroma. This trial will end when the Council decides that it is time for you to become a full member of Chroma or that you should be rejected. Trial members will get Raid Points for participating in events like everyone else but they won't receive any items yet.

18. If you wish to leave Chroma you are expected to let a Council break your pearl. Do not simply throw it away. We want to keep track of every single pearl we ever hand out.

Rules of Conduct

1. Never forget that Final Fantasy XI is a GAME! Enjoy that game and others will enjoy it with you.

2. Council members spend a lot of their own time trying to keep the linkshell running smoothly. Please remember that they work hard both in the game and in real life to keep the Linkshell as strong and as positive as it can be.

3. Always treat other players with respect. For every character rendered within the game there is a real person behind that character. Treat that person as you would wish to be treated.

4. Not all players will act respectfully. Blacklist exists for this reason. Rather than sink to their level simply /blacklist these players and move on. If they persist, remember, GM's exist for a reason.

5. Respect other players' time and be punctual. Many players have real life obligations that they must meet. their playtime is precious to them. Try not to waste it.

6. Be positive. The game can be very disappointing at times. Try your best to not display a defeatist attitude. Upbeat, positive linkshell members are one of the reasons we can get stronger every day.

7. Be helpful when you can. If you are unable to help, then respectfully decline. This game is all about working together with others to accomplish common goals. We all have needed help at one time or another. Remember that.

8. Keep real life in real life. The linkshell is meant to allow players to communicate and work together. We don't mind hearing about your good or bad day but we don't need to read an essay about why your life sucks. Try to remember that everyone in the linkshell is reading it and that yours is probably not the only conversation going on.

9. We all know that the storyline is cool. Please refrain from saying anything that might spoil the story for others who may not have progressed as far as you. No one likes spoilers. Let them find out for themselves.

10. Most importantly: HAVE FUN! Games are meant to be enjoyed.
